Genesis 12 (story of Abram/Abraham):

Told to leave house and go to unseen land, foreigner (they were accustomed to worshipping multiple gods and had not heard from God in years) God planted the craving in him and then called him to that craving
Drought comes (after following God) are you in a drought? death, finances, famine, relationships

- God will destroy EVERYTHING until you turn to him (idolatry) and then He will help you rebuild
–> Abraham was asked to sacrifice his son because of idolatry

1. Abraham understood the sovereignty of God
Isaiah 45:7

sovereign = nothing above, no one else before Him
He is the absolute head of all things, including darkness
- many are blaming the devil for things he hasn’t done. God can use the devil for disaster

His faith was not waivered on whether or not things were good or bad. His faith was not waivered on what he could see. His faith was waivered on the sovereignty of God.

Is your faith waivered?
(i.e.) struugles in life, new customers, how you feel

His promises are: he will prosper us, bless those that bless us, curse thos that curse us
- a lot of times he brings disaster to get our attention
-what will be rooted out and planted?

You have 2 choices:
1. get bitter
- or -
2. get better

disaster = to bring light out of dark places

Do you want your legacy to be alive many years from now?

3. OBEY willingly
